Dear All

The new software is a lot better, but there is a little learning for us all

Some tips:-

To add photos you can either drag and drop them from your computer or "choose files". Once chosen you can click "Submit" and the photos will be added to the post. Or you can click the "+" on the photo to place it where you want. Once placed in the post you can double click the photo for more options (resize & align). You can also caption the photos if you wish (as the photo appears rather than the code, it makes captioning photos much easier!)

Where is the "Preview Post" Button? It has been dropped from Version 4 of the software as the editor is true WYSIWYG (What you see is what you get). As your post will appear exactly as it does in the editor a preview post button was deemed superfluous by the software writers. Not sure I agree, but that's the way it is.

Where is the Members List"? There isn't a button for this. However if you click in the search box (top right) and then change the "All Content" to "Members" and leave the search box blank you will get a list of all members.

"Report Post" is now at the top of a post just to the right of the "Posted" date and time

To embed a YouTube video copy the link from your browser into the post editor and hit [Enter] then WAIT for the video to display

There is a guide to searching and content notifications at https://community.invisionpower.com/4guides/content-discovery/

If you want to mention a member in a post, type the @ sign and then start the members name - you will get a list of members, example @Bill Edwards

If you've any "How do I.....?" or "Where is....?" Please ask - if you can't find, it's likely others can't either!

Regards

Bill

I think that I have put back what I can of the things we "lost" in the upgrade.

The layout issues in some posts and the fact that photos now appear as thumbnails, will be sorted in the next couple of days - all previously posted photos will appear as they did before (soon!)

One thing I am struggling with is our logo. The previous forum top band was a light colour and the logo worked. The top band is now dark and the logo doesn't work. As I only have a low res image, I'm struggling to get it looking right. Any suggestions?

Is there anything that I haven't mentioned that seems to be "missing"??

Many thanks for your pateince

Bill

The old software allowed members to have a "username" and a "display name" if they wanted. They logged in using their username, but displayed their display name.

The new software version merged these together so to log in now you must use your DISPLAY NAME.

I will look into this. I've passed this to Tech Support.

The "View New Content Button" has gone.

I'm told that using your "Activity Streams" does exactly the same thing (but is more customisable), but I must confess, I haven't got my head round this yet.

I understand that they'll be 'growing on us' over the next few days and all be restored to full size.

Please see the announcements box above :)

The images from V3 will be shown as thumbnails for a day or two until the rebuild is complete. The full size images you can see have been posted since upgrade

No reply buttons at all.  Just type in the reply box at the bottom.

It seems that a few permissions didn't make the upgrade properly.

I've sorted the Transport & Rides List. Will look through and see if the others are as we expect.
