Your new ‘Team’ have discussed in depth the current membership and three tier Forum Supporter packages and advise the following changes with immediate effect.

All new members will be required to register using their own real name and pay an annual subscription of £10.  There will be a 48 hour cancellation period where a full refund will be offered.  The package will include admittance to all forums and an allowance of 20 Personal Messages per day with a storage capacity of 100 Messages.

The current three tier Supporter renewal packages will, in future, be replaced by the single package as detailed above.  In addition the user name must be the users real name.

With effect from 1st May 2019 all current members who have not yet bought a Supporter package will be denied access to all forums unless they upgrade to the package detailed above.  The new package can be purchased at any time and will include access to the Rides Lists.

Members currently not using their own real name can voluntarily update at any time by sending an e-mail to admin@fun-fairs.co.uk.

As a part of the changes, will you be publishing annual accounts?

If the membership fee is doubling and free entry is to be restricted, I would like to see an account of where the money goes or is intended to go.

No insinuation of anything untoward is intended, but all other groups requesting money for membership that I am part of provide this information.

What method can you pay this subscription each year especially for those who don't use paypal or online banking facilities. Can you pay by cheque or postal order.

We can confirm that this issue is certainly on the agenda of the Team - of course,if and when they are published , you will have to be a member to view them.

I understand I'll need to be paid up to view them, and I also understand that this is a very new and fresh thing. Hopefully nearer the deadline there will be a firmer answer and I can decide with full information if I want to sign up.

The subscription is £10 per a year, and once a paid member (Whether you do that now, or when its compulsory in a year) you will be able to view the rides list.

The only ones who can't are non paying members, who come 1st May 2019 won't be able to access the forum anyway.

This is a Good Forum i like to come on before bed to look at the great photos people put on but i think 10 Pound is a bit dear i used be on a Dance Music Forum but the people who made it started asking for money and they had to shut down coz people couldent afford it Sorry to moan but i just wanted share my experience because it's a good site and it would be shame if it closed

Maybe if u just keep the Rides List to Supporters but keep rest of the forum free it would be better coz i think people will stop coming on if they have to pay

I would like to question why has everyone have to pay £10 from next year?

I considered the option of £5, £10 & £15 was more flexible.

After much discussion among the team, it has been decided that from May next year, the Forum is to become subscription only, at what we feel is a very fair cost of £10.00 per annum.
This decision has been taken in order to secure the financial future of the Forum, and please remember, that when you choose to subscribe, you will have access to the entire Forum, including the unique "Rides List" section.

Unfortunately it was either £10 a year from members or no forum for anyone, we went for the only option that would allow the forum to survive.

An explanation of the running costs may help justification of the £10 charge.....

The question being asked by reasonable heads here is just to give us an idea of the costs, what our contribution will do etc.

I think we all agree we want the forum to continue and to be viable. It is after all in a way run by its own members, not democratically but that isn't a huge issue if it works and everyone is happy.

The announcement of a charge without any in depth background is difficult to swallow. I'll hold my hands up - I haven't paid. I previously didn't wish to as my general interest is casual. I'm leaning towards not paying next year and leaving as I'm not sure it is worth a payment to pop in and out as and when I wish, my main interest is the vintage stuff and there isn't a lot of it on here.

The charge may end up being counter productice and drive people away. I'm sure that has been weighed up and I don't envy 'The Team' for having to make that choice.

Transparency is going to be key to making this work, if it becomes 'our way or bye bye' then I don't see a long term future for the forum.

Personally, if one asks for money, one has to open the books. Who is the beneficiary. How is the money spend. How are profits (or losses) handled. If you don't, than you are running the risk that you will not convince people to pay.

Also, I'm convinced that a lot of people will leave this forum, because they are "passing" persons only and not people who come and look here on a regular base...

I think you've made your point - several times, perhaps it's time to give the new team time to find their feet 😖
