I've uploaded a short screen capture video showing how to caption photos, but it also shows how to upload. If you need any further help, just ask.

I've been having issues uploading photos recently, I've got some to post in the supporting attractions section but have been getting error messages

If you tell me what the error message is I might be able to help :)

Also, what device you are using (phone, pc etc), operating system, ISP and the size of the photo you are uploading.

I cannot replicate this, but you are the third person to report, so something is going on.

(Common denominator seems to be large files that haven't been resized)

Bill,

  • I am on my laptop
  • I am using Windows 7
  • My ISP is Chrome
  • I'm not sure on the size because I dont have the photos at hand right now, but they are very large high resolution images (The same size as the ones I posted here you may see all of the small squares at the bottom of this post, that is one picture that wouldnt upload, and i kept trying!)
  • The error message reads as follows:

There was a problem processing the upload file. -200

Thanks

The forum is throwing that error although it isn't actually a problem with the forum.

When you upload photos they go through your ISP, via several different networks and end up at the forum. There could be a dozen or so links in the chain before the forum receives the photos. If any part of that chain runs slowly the upload times out and gives you that error. Sometimes the chain works as intended, sometimes it slows.

The smaller the file you upload, the less chance of a time out error. I resize all my photos to 800x600 using free resizer software (http://www.faststone.org/FSResizerDownload.htm) - I don't get errors and the upload time is much quicker.

Regards

Not wishing to state the obvious, I set he software to save the resized photos in the different folder so I still have the original full size photo should I need it .

If you run windows you can just use the "paint" program that comes with the operating system :)

It would take an awfully long time to resize a load of photos from a giant fair, this program can do as many photos you like in a matter of seconds!

I'm not a Paint expert so can't comment, but the software I mention can bulk resize - doing entire folders at a time, which is a big advantage for me.

I have two folders on my Google Drive - Funfair Original and Funfair Resized. When I download from my camera they go in original and I bulk resize the entire folder into resized ready for the forum.
