Logging Into This Forum

Dear All

 

There are TWO options a member can use when logging into this forum: You can use your username or your email address. The method is set by the administrator to username OR email address OR both. We have the forum set to BOTH, I personally have always used my username. However, using a username is seen as the weaker option. As your username is displayed on every post, it means any potential hacker has access to 50% of the information need to hack your account. I've always been happy with this system as I use a very secure password, which I change frequently.

 

However, IPS, who supply the software, have informed users that the ability to use usernames to login WILL be removed in a future software release. No time scale has been given, but reading the comments its likely to be early 2023. You will still be able to show and use your username within the forum, but logging in must be done using your email address. 

 

There is nothing for you to do at the moment. It is recommended that you (a) Check your forum registered email address is accessible and (b) If you want to get ahead of the game you can use your email address to login from NOW then the software change won't affect you!

Bill, I was logged out, and after signing back up, using my Email address, the forum will not allow me access to the ride list. Dave

The method of logging in makes no difference to what you can access.

 

By coincidence your supporter status and access to the rides list expired on 8/10/22, the forum allows 3 days grace meaning your access to the rides list disappeared today.
