The header image is set up NOT to display on Phones & Tablets, only desktops & laptops. Using the forum on my Android Phone is much, much better than the old software. I have a Hudl 2 and using that with Chrome displays the forum exactly as my phone does. Link to comment

Firstly, I don't understand why people use a photograph as a background for their Windows desktop. It just seems to make it harder for me to find the icons I want to click on. In the same way, the logo already has 5 colours in it, so putting it on even more colours makes it harder to see. That's a personal opinion. Secondly, the big wheel in the photo says "fairground" and always will. The shapes to the right don't. I thought to begin with that they were the flash which is often attached to the uprights on a wheel, but the wheel itself is missing here. I had to extract the photo from the webpage to discover that they are the lightnining flashes from an Extreme. I wouldn't have been confused if the points were visible at the top. The point I'm making here is that the whole image should say "fairground" in no uncertain terms. Thirdly, part of the photo (on the right) is separated from the rest except for a very thin red strip. That creates two quite large blank areas on the right. To me, that just looks wrong. This isn't easy to get right, but it's important. In a way, it's not about pleasing us. It's about making sure that casual visitors like what they see - enough to register or, at least, to come back for a second look. Our strongest suit in that respect is the name "All the Fun of the Fair". Bill had the foresight to choose the perfect name when he had the chance. Everyone's heard that phrase, no one will forget it. If we have to use a photo on the header it has be as just as recognisable to everyone. 1 Link to comment

I do like the way that the photo will shrink only up to a certain point if you have a narrow window, keep shrinking the window and it goes away completely (must be what Bill mentioned about phones and tablets not getting it).
