Whenever I search for anything, it always returns no results. Here's a couple of examples;

1) If I search for "Staffordshire" in the Coming Events Forum, theres's no results, even though there are Staffordshire fairs listed in the Forum. On the old Coming Events, that would show all the Staffordshire fairs listed in there.

2) I just read a post mentioning Walter Murphy's "Take Off". I don't know what ride that is, so I searched "Take Off" - no results.

Am I doing something wrong?

I will try and sort this out for you.....

1) The new and old coming events are very different and are now forum based, so you will have to get used to a different way of searching. Firstly there are NO events in the coming events forum, only sub forums, so that is why you get no results returned for Staffordshire. If you go into each sub forum and search you will get better results. There is no topic in March for Staffordshire, but there is for April.

2) I have no answer for this, but will ask Tech support - as it's the weekend it may take a day or two

Regards

Bill

I now have an answer from Tech support, but alas, no solution :(

Because of the large amount of computing power needed to search, there is a restriction on the words that can actually be searched. This is not a restriction of the Forum Software, but a restriction of MySQL which is the platform under the software.

The full list of "stop" words (words which cannot be searched) is at https://dev.mysql.com/doc/refman/5.5/en/fulltext-stopwords.html

I don't know a way round it, sorry.

'Take Off' can be traced by searching 'Walter Murphy'
